Samantha Cimino makes evocative and intuitive work that explores embodiment, mysticism, reconnecting to earth-based practices, and a reclamation of exalted expression. Her multidisciplinary work aims to get down to the roots of the stories of resilience, oppression, empowerment, healing, and connection to the natural world. She has been a visual artist and writer most of her life, painting, drawing, and writing poetry from a young age, and now includes music, movement, and performance in her disciplines, at times interlacing different mediums together.
She has worked in many different mediums throughout her artistic career and has shown at various small galleries and shops. She currently co-produces a quarterly performance show called Surrealist Cabaret with Maggie McCloskey that showcases a range of performance art works by local multidisciplinary artists. She has been part of other collaborative projects such as Mia Habib's performance ALL a physical poem of protest and Touch System by Blue McCall. She is from Maryland and has lived in Portland, Oregon for over a decade.
